Reunion Blues as “Achievement Award”

Band Director and music teacher for Citrus High School in Florida, Brian York, entered our Reunion Blues stick bag giveaway essay contest and wrote about how he would use the prize not for himself, but for a deserving student. That was enough for us! Below is a quote from Brian after he realized he was the winner… and a great photo of him on the job. Congratulations Brian and thanks for a wonderful idea.

Brian York

“WOW!!  Fantastic, thank’s a lot for this.  It’s gonna go a long way as a great motivator for one of my aspiring young drummers.  I honestly wasn’t expecting this at all!  Here is a picture attached with me and my students, I honestly don’t know who I am going to give it to yet.  I’ve got a few in mind, but it may end up being a motivational “prize” or something… Thanks again!”

The Poetry of Noah Fishman

Noah Fishman
Noah Fishman
Back during the 3rd week of April during our Free Bass Case Week bassists Noah Fishman submitted this poem and was awarded with the RBB4 Bass Guitar case.

Reunion Blues cases have a sort of mystique,
Their construction and beauty are something unique.
I never have owned one, due to prices so high,
so when I read of this contest… I just had to try!
So here is my story; I am just a teenager,
But I auditioned for the “Keep An Eye” workshop; what a wager!
It payed off quite well, for this summer I will travel,
To Amsterdam, Holland, where my story will unravel;
I’ll play jazz at the conservatory, with grad students from afar,
and then jam all night in clubs with my beloved bass guitar.
The problem is, I have a lovely Modulus Quantum rig,
But Delta won’t fly it – my old hardshell case is too big!
I hope I can win this RBB4 case, man,
So I can fly my bass safely to play jazz in Amsterdam.

Robert Mathews has a great story about finding a classical guitar in a thrift store (btw andy we have a classical guitar case you might want to look at).

Our buddy Andy Lackow is back with another story (he is the computer animator who met Jerry Garcia), this time about how playing music helped to overcome loss and the challenges of being a single dad.

Andy G tells how music saved his life.

Bobby B tells how he acted out playing a wah wah pedal to a customs agent.

Lance Allen has a funny story about a guy that put him on about his level of fame based on some clues and a wayward kiss.

The Highlights and Winner for Trumpet Week

Wow, there were a ton of responses for Trumpet Week!

A few selfless folks wanted their friends, siblings, children, or teachers to get a trumpet case like Justin Womack, Dave, Ashley Gauthier, Sandra Lichtenwalter, Jeffrey Hoyt, and Mike DeLucia.

Sean McCarthy, Pamela S. Shimer, Matthew Zelnik, Jeff Karlson, Daniel Clemente, Leo Espino, Jacob Woytek and Joshua Belk all had some great stories about their long journeys as musicians in their school marching bands leading up to the present day.

Luis & Gwen Juarez are a cute trumpet-playing married couple. Check out their website.
