Kody Kilby joins Reunion Blues endorser group

CODY KILBY

Growing up in Cowan, Tennessee, Cody Kilby picked up his dad’s banjo at age 8 and had a Gibson Banjo endorsement by the time he was 11.  He started playing his mom’s guitar at 10, and by 17, he was the National Flatpicking Champion.

He added mandolin and dobro at around age 13, and at 16, recorded Just Me, showing his mastery of each instrument on the recording.  While touring with Sally Jones and the Sidewinders, he caught the ear of Ricky Skaggs, joining Kentucky Thunder in 2001.  Cody’s lightning-fast picking can be heard on a number of projects, including Disney album, O Mickey, Where Art Thou?.  He’s also released a new solo project, Many Roads Traveled, on which he shares his own original compositions.  In rare spare moments, Cody can be found producing and engineering projects for other artists in his home studio.

Rickey Minor update… New web site, new direction!

Back in 2008, we posted a blog entitled “Rickey Minor, my kind of music hero” that you can see by clicking HERE. In this blog, we simply wanted to flag the fact that we thought Rickey Minor was a true “behind the scenes” hero. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then and, today, Rickey is now one of the most high-profile musicians in the entertainment business, having taken over as the music director for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Rickey also has a new web site (shown below) that you can explore by clicking HERE.

You can also see the official announcement by clicking HERE.

All of us at Reunion Blues are proud to be associated with such a monster talent, and we wish Mr. Minor the very best. He is a true inspiration for anyone who has a dream of making it in this crazy business.

Congratulations!

Adam Dutkiewicz & Joel Stroetzel of Killswitch Engage sign on as RB Continental endorsers.

Killswitch Engage is no stranger to travel. They tour the world.

Adam and Joel are two of the hardest working musicians out there on that road… and their break-neck schedule can also be hard on their gear. Maybe that’s why they chose to endorse the RB Continental. Then again, maybe it’s because they just look so cool carrying their axes around in these killer cases.

Either way, all of us at Reunion blues are honored and excited to have Killswitch Engage as the newest member of our elite group of Reunion Blues endorsers.

Welcome to the A Team!

Reunion Blues Vintage Guitars Road Show @ Summer NAMM

In an effort to provide post-flood networking opportunities for local musicians and to offer free appraisals for their instruments, the latest Reunion Blues Vintage Guitars Road show successfully rolled through Nashville on June 20 as part of the Summer NAMM “Wanna Play Sunday” public event at the Nashville Convention Center.

Allen Chiles, the top-rated guitar appraiser on the internet from VintageGuitarPro.com was on hand to help assess market values of all sorts of great old guitar, mandolin, dobro and even doghouse bass instruments throughout the day. Grammy-winning Reunion Blues endorser Ricky Skaggs lent his name to the event in an effort to help spread the word in the Nashville area that this Road Show would be coming to town.

Now approaching its third year of production, the Reunion Blues Vintage Guitars Road show is normally offered as an in-store promotion for authorized Reunion Blues dealers to help accelerate store traffic in their local markets, and to provide a valuable service at no charge to their customers. In the past, participating dealers have seen “holy grail” instruments come out of the woodwork like a Mary Kay Strat, ‘59 Les Paul, original “no name” Tele and even a Rickenbacker frying pan.

“This is a turn-key program that our dealers can use to create excitement in their store and to meet new customers.” said Alan Poster, president of Reunion Blues. “With the success of this latest Road Show at Summer NAMM,” he continued, “we are ready to compile our fall tour schedule and are currently accepting dealer bookings leading up to the holiday selling season.”

The Reunion Blues Vintage Guitar Road Show is co-sponsored by Premier Guitar Magazine. Videos of past Road Show events can be viewed on the Premier Guitar web site, on the Reunion Blues blog at www.reunionblues.com, or on the Reunion Blues Facebook page.

Reunion Blues and Ricky Skaggs team up to promote Nashville’s 1st RB Vintage Guitars Road Show

NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 20 – - When Reunion Blues, the music industry’s premier instrument case and bag company, signed Grammy award winning country music artist Ricky Skaggs as their newest product endorser, they had no idea their first collaboration would be to help gather together musicians in the wake of the worst flooding in Nashville’s memory.

Reunion Blues is bringing their popular Vintage Guitars Road Show to Nashville on June 20 as part of Summer NAMM’s “Wanna Play Music Sunday” at the Nashville Convention Center.

Local musicians and their families and friends are encouraged to pull those old guitars out of the attic and bring them to the Summer NAMM registration area for a free professional appraisal by vintage guitar expert Allan Chiles from vintageguitarpro.com. D’Addario, the world’s largest string maker, will also be there to offer a free guitar restringing by Tom Spaulding, guitar tech for Keith Urban’s band, Aerosmith and John Fogerty. During this event, free Premier Guitar Magazine online subscriptions will also be available.
According to Reunion Blues, Ricky Skaggs is not currently scheduled to make an appearance at this Vintage Guitars Road Show, but was quoted as saying he was happy to lend his name to assist in spreading the word if the end result helps just one more Nashville citizen adversely affected by recent events. “This is a great opportunity for local players to meet with other industry professionals and catch up with people they haven’t seen for years… especially after the flood.” said Ricky. “The intent is to provide a no-cost opportunity for Nashville musicians to reconnect and help one another get more gigs.”
Bring your guitar to the NAMM registration area from 10:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 20, and they will direct you from there. Only one guitar per person, please. Everyone will also have the opportunity to enter a drawing for any RB Continental case. Discount coupons for access to the NAMM convention down the hall will also be available, with secure storage of your instrument offered so you will not have to carry it around all day.
