The Derby is an old-school landmark and treasured venue located in Hollywood/Los Feliz. The landscape is seriously funny with a gigantic bar in the middle of the floor but its grown on me to the point where when I'm playing, it appears as if the bartenders are a part of the crowd-- and they get into it. Drinks are cheap and you can grab a bite on the other side of the venue at Louise's Trattoria. Don't go there with this guy as he'll eat your food and then hit you up for his missing picks.

Mr. Blues
Harvelle's is a great live blues club in the city of Santa Monica. Established in 1931, they feature different live acts each night of the week.
Staple to the LA scene, launching hundreds of sweaty anthems! Located in West Hollywood, the venue stands tall in a city of overturned joints. Wide range of acts 7 nights a week.
Gun's 'n Roses got their start here in the mid 1980's and is host to rock, hiphop, and singer-songwriter up-and-comers. This venue isn't hit or miss. Booking: Nic Adler, 310-278-9457, bookingrox at mac dot com
This venue is hit or miss but if you're looking for cheap drinks and an intimate vibe, pop in... usually no cover too!

Thompson, as well as an array of other internationally-established artists and cult favorites of America's underground.

A vibrant indie/music scene has taken root in the town of Silverlake with The Echo being its navel (not to be confused with Echoplex which is same building, but the entrance is around the block).
Bars & Nightlife
This is a beautiful little club that looks and feels like a late 50's casino lounge. It attracts a very musically sophisticated audience. When we are in the Southern California area, we love playing this venue. We love it so much there is a tune on our next c.d. (due out in Feb.) called The Continental Stomp! The Guy who books this room is Bobby Soul.
Last time we played LA we were on the strip at The Roxy. If you want to patronize establishments where you can still smell the cocaine on the walls from late 80's glam and metal, this is your destination.
Named after one of their signature martinis, Liquid Kitty has no cover change, unlike some of the hot bars in LA.
Located in an old downtown private power plant with vintage generators, this classy place has a dress code, so look your sharpest! Valet parking is $9.
Described as art deco, classy, dark, chilled out, this two level bar can cool wallpaper!
This Old West saloon is known best for getting hot drunk girls to ride the mechanical bull while wear cowboy hats, and falling off, or not falling off.
Hotels
Its freakishly small but if you're on a budget, and I know you are dood, then stay here and walk to Hollywood and Highland festivities in 2 minutes flat.
You will be photographed by the pap's if you stay here. Great diner, poolside bar and plush lounge to rest your tired meat paws.
Stuff to Do
Huge music collections with records, DVDs, CDs, art, shirts, paraphernalia of generations past. A must see.
James Dean filmed Rebel Without a Cause here and that makes it cool enough for you. See Jupiter or the Moon through a 1920's telescope that will put you in your place. Your small, small place.
