Dining
"I lived in Manhattan for nine years and while there are zillions of restaurants in the city, now that I am a Pennsylvanian, I tend to return to the ones that make Manhattan feel like home again. Mary Ann's -116 8th Ave, is located in Chelsea and has been around for quite some time. Located near the Atlantic Theater Company (a theater company that I founded with friends from NYU in the 1980's) Mary Ann's was the place for a starving actor like myself to get a great authentic Mexican meal without breaking the bank and without being rushed out the door."
Birdland is classy, dressy and sophisticated. It was named after saxophonist Charlie Parker. Serving southern food and cajun/creole with phenomenal service. Sit back, relax and enjoy the jazz/cabaret shows. A tip from the locals: Fridays are the best nights to visit Birdland.
Located inside the Four Seasons Hotel, L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon is elegant with the highest ceilings you've ever seen. The meals here are a culinary adventure; Best dishes: L'Amadai, Kobe Beef, and Crispy Langoustine Papillote with Basil Pesto. Its a splurge but worth every penny. Don't forget the bread- it was rated the best bread of 2007 by New York Magazine.
Best known for their mac n' cheese. Extensive beerlist. Top off your dinner with the Sweet Potato Pie.
