The Derby is an old-school landmark and treasured venue located in Hollywood/Los Feliz. The landscape is seriously funny with a gigantic bar in the middle of the floor but its grown on me to the point where when I'm playing, it appears as if the bartenders are a part of the crowd-- and they get into it. Drinks are cheap and you can grab a bite on the other side of the venue at Louise's Trattoria‎. Don't go there with this guy as he'll eat your food and then hit you up for his missing picks.

This was recommended to us by Blues Guitar player Eddie Turner. You can make a recommendation too.
Mr. Blues
Harvelle's is a great live blues club in the city of Santa Monica. Established in 1931, they feature different live acts each night of the week.
Staple to the LA scene, launching hundreds of sweaty anthems! Located in West Hollywood, the venue stands tall in a city of overturned joints. Wide range of acts 7 nights a week.
Gun's 'n Roses got their start here in the mid 1980's and is host to rock, hiphop, and singer-songwriter up-and-comers. This venue isn't hit or miss. Booking: Nic Adler, 310-278-9457, bookingrox at mac dot com
This venue is hit or miss but if you're looking for cheap drinks and an intimate vibe, pop in... usually no cover too!
The most legendary and well-known venue on the Sunset Strip. Home to The Doors in the 1960's, you will be rocked. Has a multimedia feel with projectors and lots of lights. Booking: Asst. Sarah Stotler, 310-652-4202 x14 sarah at whiskyagogo dot com
There's been construction in the area where the Knitting Factory stands tall but don't let that deter you. 2 stages, one for locals one for, uh, big locals! Booking: Chris Diaz, cdiaz at knittingfactory dot com
A great westside venue with a more relaxed vibe. Parking is a cinch! Booking: Sully, 310-714-7558
THE best singer-songwriter venue on the west coast, hands down. You will be taken.

All ages venue with loud (LOUD) soundsytem.
The best indie place... located in the heart o Silverlake. Go and stare and their shoes too!
A vibrant indie/music scene has taken root in the town of Silverlake with The Echo being its navel (not to be confused with Echoplex which is same building, but the entrance is around the block).
